A woman has been arrested and five firearms were seized during a police raid in Kelantan, Malaysia, as part of an operation targeting illegal wildlife-related activities. The raid took place at a house in Kampung Miak, Kuala Krai, following intelligence reports about suspicious activities.
The operation was conducted under Ops Bersepadu Khazanah and involved multiple agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police, the Kelantan Forestry Department, and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks. Authorities coordinated efforts to address potential wildlife crimes and related illegal activities.
According to Southeast Brigade General Operations Force Commander Ahmad Radzi Hussain, the raid was carried out at around 6:45pm. The enforcement team identified themselves and presented official authority cards before proceeding with the inspection of the premises.
During the search, officers discovered five firearms of various types inside the house. The presence of these weapons raised concerns, especially in connection with alleged illegal wildlife activities that were being investigated.
The woman was detained at the scene to assist with investigations, particularly under offences related to the Firearms Act. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about her background or potential links to wildlife trafficking networks.
All seized items have been taken to the Gua Musang district police headquarters for further examination and legal procedures. Investigators are continuing their probe to determine the full extent of the activities linked to the case.
This operation highlights ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to crack down on illegal wildlife trade and related crimes, which remain a significant concern in the region. Officials have reiterated their commitment to enforcing laws and protecting natural resources through coordinated actions.
