Josh Hartnett Briefly Hospitalized After SUV Hits Police Vehicle

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Actor Josh Hartnett, 47, was briefly hospitalized after the SUV he was traveling in collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle early Thursday, September 25. The incident occurred near the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. local time.

The SUV, driven by a 59-year-old man, struck the police vehicle, resulting in both Hartnett and the officer being taken to a nearby hospital. Hartnett was treated and released after medical clearance, while the officer remained hospitalized as a precaution.

The RNC confirmed that collision analysts are actively investigating the incident. Authorities are seeking any witnesses or video evidence, including CCTV, dash-camera, or cell phone footage. Residents with information have been asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.

Hartnett, known for films such as Fight or Flight, which premiered in May, is currently in Canada filming an untitled Netflix series alongside Charlie Heaton and Mackenzie Davis. The series follows a “hard-bitten fisherman” who discovers his hometown is threatened by a mysterious creature.

Earlier this year, Hartnett was seen filming Verity with Anne Hathaway in New York City, scheduled for release on May 15, 2026. The actor recently discussed his physical preparation for Fight or Flight, revealing that he performed many of his own stunts, saying, “I was bruised from head to toe… it feels good to be able to throw yourself into something physically and have it turn out the way this has.”

The RNC investigation into the collision remains ongoing, and authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
