A shocking Indian-origin cab driver rape case has come to light from California, United States. A young woman was sexually assaulted after she passed out during a cab ride late at night. The accused driver has now been arrested by police.

When it happened

The incident happened on November 27, 2025, at around 1:00 am. It was late night when the woman booked a cab to go home.

Where it happened

The crime took place in Camarillo city, California. The cab ride started from Thousand Oaks, where the woman was at a bar.

How it happened

The 21-year-old woman was at a bar and had consumed alcohol. Because of this, she was not fully conscious and could not take care of herself. She booked a cab to return home safely.

The driver, Simranjit Singh Sekhon, aged 35, picked her up around 1:00 am. During the ride, the woman fell asleep and became unconscious inside the cab.

Even after the ride was shown as completed, the driver did not stop the car. Police said he kept driving the unconscious woman around different areas of Camarillo. During this time, he sexually assaulted her inside the cab.

The woman later realized what had happened and reported the matter to the police.

Police action and arrest

After receiving the complaint, police started an investigation in November 2025. A special crime unit collected evidence and questioned the suspect.

Sekhon was arrested on December 15, 2025. He was charged with rape of an unconscious and vulnerable victim. Police said the woman was in no condition to protect herself at that time.

Court update

The accused appeared in court and pleaded not guilty. The court set his bail at $500,000. His next court hearing is scheduled for December 29, 2025.

Police also said there is a possibility of more victims, and the investigation is still going on.

Other details

Authorities have not shared the name of the cab company the driver was working for. No details were given about his visa or work status.
