An Indian national was killed after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the growing risks of the ongoing Middle East conflict. The incident occurred after air defence systems successfully neutralised the incoming missile, but falling fragments struck a populated area. Another Indian was injured along with individuals from Emirati and Jordanian nationalities.
Reports confirmed that a Pakistani national was also killed in the same incident. The casualties took place on Sweihan Street, where emergency services rushed to the scene to assist victims and manage damage caused to vehicles and nearby infrastructure. The debris impact has raised concerns over civilian safety even when interception systems function effectively.
Authorities stated that while the missile was successfully intercepted, the falling debris caused unintended damage, underlining the dangers of high-altitude defence operations in urban areas. The UAE has been actively engaging incoming threats, with hundreds of missiles and drones intercepted since the escalation of regional tensions.
The death toll of Indian nationals in the Middle East conflict has now risen to at least seven. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, emphasising safety measures and urging reliance on verified information as tensions in the region remain high.
