Vietnam’s senior military and political leaders held a high-level conference in Hanoi to review the implementation of coordination regulations between the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee from 2023 until now.
The conference was co-chaired by Politburo member and Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang and Politburo member and Hanoi City Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang. Senior officials from military agencies, ministries, and local authorities also attended the important meeting focused on strengthening defense and security cooperation in the capital city.
According to reports presented at the conference, both sides have actively coordinated in implementing Party resolutions, state laws, and national defense policies alongside socio-economic development projects in Hanoi. Authorities said the cooperation has helped strengthen political stability and improve the city’s defense readiness during recent years.
The review highlighted efforts to build a stronger national defense system linked with public security networks and local defense zones across Hanoi. Officials also focused on improving the management and use of defense land for important infrastructure and development projects while maintaining military and security priorities.
Speaking at the event, General Phan Van Giang instructed military forces stationed in Hanoi to constantly monitor the security situation and remain prepared for any military or defense-related challenges. He emphasized the need to develop rapid response plans and ensure the absolute safety of political institutions, important national targets, and major public events held in the capital.
The Defense Minister also requested closer coordination between defense planning and socio-economic development strategies to support Hanoi’s long-term growth vision. He said future urban planning must combine economic expansion with stronger defense and national security systems to build a safer and more resilient capital city.
Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang stressed the importance of strengthening local military forces at the commune and ward levels. He called for better development of reserve forces, local militia systems, and broader community participation in national defense activities.
Tran Duc Thang also emphasized social welfare policies for military personnel and their families. He requested local authorities to support returning soldiers with employment opportunities, housing programs, and community reintegration after completing military service. Special attention will also be given to policies supporting veterans and families with contributions to national defense.
Officials at the conference agreed that close cooperation between military agencies and Hanoi authorities remains essential for protecting political stability, ensuring public safety, and supporting sustainable development in Vietnam’s capital city. Leaders pledged to continue improving coordination mechanisms in the coming years to strengthen Hanoi’s overall defense posture.
