Abu Dhabi, UAE – December 12, 2025 – His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, attended a landmark International Development Dialogue held in Abu Dhabi.
The event convened prominent global leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, and development experts for in-depth discussions on the rapidly evolving international development landscape. Hosted by the Office of Development Affairs at the Presidential Court, the dialogue provided a reflective and forward-looking platform to explore emerging approaches to global cooperation and sustainable development.
His Highness Sheikh Theyab engaged directly with participating speakers and guests, emphasizing the importance of collaborative solutions in addressing shared global challenges. Discussions centered on the effects of shifting geopolitical dynamics, changing economic conditions, and rapid technological transformation on development priorities worldwide.
Participants analyzed the implications of a multipolar world, the rising influence of emerging actors, and the increasing role of South-to-South cooperation in tackling global challenges. Central to deliberations was the widening development finance gap, prompting calls for agile and resilient financing mechanisms. Experts highlighted the importance of blended capital models that unite stakeholders from inception, with philanthropy playing a catalytic role in de-risking early-stage initiatives and enabling sustained government and institutional investment.
Africa’s development trajectory was a key focus, with experts highlighting demographic momentum, institutional leadership, and the potential benefits of deeper regional integration. Emphasis was placed on inclusive governance, community-driven initiatives, and sustained investment in education, healthcare, and economic opportunity as pillars of long-term development.
The dialogue also explored the transformative potential of frontier technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital public infrastructure, to strengthen resilience and accelerate development. Discussions stressed the need for responsible implementation, robust governance, and talent development to maximize technological impact.
The event concluded with a unified acknowledgment of the need for adaptive, trust-based, and action-oriented cooperation models capable of navigating an increasingly complex global environment and advancing sustainable development worldwide.
