The Dubai Government has launched a substantial Dhs1 billion economic assistance plan designed to safeguard employment and bolster businesses throughout the emirate. This initiative received approval from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as part of a broader strategy to enhance economic stability.
The comprehensive package incorporates a variety of financial relief strategies aimed at alleviating burdens on businesses and individuals over the coming three to six months. Special attention is directed towards the hospitality industry, with a temporary postponement of hotel-related fees, including sales taxes on room bookings and food services.
Moreover, the Tourism Dirham fee, usually applicable to hotel guests, has been suspended for three months, offering financial relief to both enterprises and travelers. The authorities have also announced an expedited process for the issuance and renewal of residency permits, which is set to benefit both employees and employers alike.
Beyond the hospitality sector, various business fees across different industries have been delayed, including licensing modification costs, service charges, and waste management fees. The government has further extended customs data grace periods from 30 to 90 days to facilitate trade processes.
Officials have indicated that this initiative forms part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance employment levels, elevate living standards, and promote long-term economic resilience. Additional programs are in the pipeline, focusing on workforce development as well as the improvement of living conditions for workers, reinforcing Dubai's commitment to sustainable growth.
