As winter deepens in Northern India, early morning fog is posing serious hurdles for air travelers in Delhi. The national capital is grappling with numerous flight delays as visibility drops significantly during the dawn hours, leading airlines and airports to implement additional safety measures.
On Tuesday, IndiGo Airlines released a travel advisory to inform passengers about potential delays in flight operations caused by the thick fog. Travelers are encouraged to verify their flight statuses in advance and adjust their plans as needed. The airline stressed that its operational teams are actively monitoring the situation to minimize inconveniences and enhance passenger experience.
In parallel, Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has also noted possible disruptions in its flight schedules. Although operations have shown signs of recovery, several flights are still experiencing delays attributed to the dense fog. Passengers are advised to maintain communication with their airlines and keep up with real-time updates to avoid any complications. On-ground staff is available to assist travelers and ensure effective handling of operations.
This adverse weather condition is accompanied by a worsening air quality scenario in Delhi. As of around 8 AM, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 378, falling into the 'very poor' category as per the Central Pollution Control Board. Residents are being advised to minimize outdoor activities, as prolonged exposure to such pollution levels could invoke severe health threats.
With the combination of winter fog and harmful pollution creating difficulties for both travelers and residents, authorities continue to monitor the scenario diligently. It's crucial for passengers and locals alike to stay vigilant, adhere to safety advice, and remain informed about both flight and weather conditions throughout the day.
