A deadly explosion followed by a devastating fire struck a crowded bar in the popular Swiss resort town of Crans-Montana during the early hours of Friday morning. The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 10 people and left many others severely injured, some fighting for their lives in hospital.
The blast occurred at approximately 1:30 am local time at a well-known bar named Le Constellation. At the time of the explosion, the venue was packed with over 100 patrons enjoying a late-night gathering. Witnesses described hearing a powerful explosion followed by roaring flames that quickly engulfed the interior of the bar, causing panic and chaos among those inside.
Emergency services were alerted immediately and rushed to the scene, deploying fire crews, ambulances, and police officers. First responders worked tirelessly to evacuate survivors and contain the fire, which spread rapidly through the building. Several victims sustained serious burn injuries, and many were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed multiple fatalities but have not released an exact death toll, cautioning that the number may rise as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
In response to the incident, law enforcement authorities swiftly cordoned off the entire area surrounding the bar to secure the site and ensure public safety. Additionally, a temporary no-fly zone was imposed over Crans-Montana, restricting air traffic to allow emergency crews and investigators to operate without interference.
At this time, officials have not identified the cause of the explosion. Investigators are conducting a thorough examination of the scene, collecting evidence, and reviewing witness statements to determine the origins of the blast. They have not ruled out any possibilities, including accidental causes or potential foul play. Police have urged local residents and visitors to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
Emergency responders continued their work at the site for several hours after the incident, focusing on providing medical assistance to the injured, stabilizing the scene, and gathering critical information. Authorities have promised to keep the public informed as more details emerge about the tragic event and the condition of those affected.
