Asim Munir Faces Pressure Over US Plan To Send Troops To Gaza

Asim Munir Faces Pressure Over US Plan To Send Troops To Gaza

Post by : Rameen Ariff

The issue of Asim Munir Gaza troops has become a big challenge for Pakistan’s powerful army chief, Asim Munir. He is under strong pressure from the United States to send Pakistani soldiers to Gaza as part of a new plan. At the same time, this move could create serious anger and protests inside Pakistan.

What Happened

The United States has asked Pakistan to take part in a Gaza force after Israeli troops leave the area. The plan wants soldiers from Muslim countries to help keep peace and support rebuilding work in Gaza.

Asim Munir now has to make a very difficult choice. If he agrees to send troops, many people in Pakistan may get angry. If he refuses, it could upset the US leadership.

When It Happened

This issue came into focus on December 18, 2025, when reports said Asim Munir is planning to visit Washington in the coming weeks. This will be his third meeting with the US president in just six months.

Why Gaza Is Important

Gaza has been badly damaged after more than two years of fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas. Many buildings are destroyed, and people are struggling to survive.

The US plan says that after Israeli troops leave, foreign soldiers will help control the area for some time. Their job will be to keep peace and support rebuilding work.

However, many countries are afraid this mission could pull their soldiers into fighting. It could also anger people at home who strongly support Palestine.

Pressure On Asim Munir

Asim Munir has built a close relationship with the US leadership in recent months. Pakistan hopes this relationship will help bring more investment and security support.

But this has created a problem. Not sending troops may damage ties with the US. Sending troops may create chaos at home.

Pakistan has a strong and experienced army. Because of this, there is more pressure on Asim Munir to take part in the Gaza plan.

Fear Of Protests Inside Pakistan

The biggest worry is inside Pakistan. Many Islamist parties strongly oppose the US and Israel. If Pakistani soldiers are sent to Gaza under a US-backed plan, large protests could start.

These groups have the power to bring thousands of people onto the streets. Some of them are known for violent protests. Even though one major group was banned recently, its ideas are still popular among many supporters.

Supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan also do not trust Asim Munir. They could use this issue to protest against him.

What Pakistan Has Said

Pakistan’s foreign minister said last month that the country may think about peacekeeping roles. But he clearly said that disarming Hamas is not Pakistan’s responsibility.

This shows that Pakistan is trying to stay careful and avoid direct involvement in fighting.

Asim Munir’s Power

Asim Munir was recently given a powerful role as head of the defence forces. He has control over the army, air force, and navy. He also has strong legal protection and will stay in power for many years.

In recent weeks, he has met leaders from several Muslim countries. These meetings are believed to be talks about the Gaza plan.

Why This Decision Matters

If the Asim Munir Gaza troops plan moves forward, it could change Pakistan’s future politics. It could affect public peace, foreign relations, and the country’s role in global conflicts.

Experts warn that once troops are sent, the situation could quickly get worse. Many people may feel Pakistan is supporting Israel, which could lead to anger and unrest.

Asim Munir is standing at a dangerous crossroads. One step could please the US but anger his own people. The other step could protect peace at home but risk strong pressure from abroad.

Whatever decision is taken, it will have a deep impact on Pakistan and the region.
