Ashgabat is preparing for a festive cultural weekend as Turkmenistan celebrates Constitution Day and State Flag Day with a wide range of performances, exhibitions, and artistic events across the capital city. Museums, theatres, and cultural institutions are hosting special programs to mark the important national occasion.
In the days leading up to the celebrations, scientific conferences, thematic exhibitions, and cultural meetings are being organized throughout Ashgabat. These events aim to highlight the country’s national identity, cultural heritage, and patriotic values while bringing together artists, students, scholars, and residents from different regions of the country.
The city’s major theatres are playing an important role in the celebrations by presenting special stage performances and musical programs. The Main Academic Drama Theatre named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great will present several plays during the weekend, including “If I Tell the Truth,” “The Cradle of the Groom,” and “The Bride Is Coming.” All performances are scheduled for the evening.
The Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre will also take part in the celebrations with the performance “The Amazing Mother-in-Law” and a special concert titled “Your Flag Stands High Before the World.” The concert will celebrate the importance of the national flag and Turkmen cultural traditions through music and artistic performances.
At the Alp Arslan National Drama Theatre, audiences will have the opportunity to watch productions including “Sabyr Atayeva” and “India, the Land of Love.” Meanwhile, the Mollanepes Student Theatre will stage “The Cloth Seller” and “Your Lie, My Truth,” giving young performers an opportunity to participate in the national celebrations.
The Pushkin State Russian Drama Theatre has prepared a diverse program for both children and adults. Family-friendly productions such as “Thumbelina” and “The Kidnapping of Cheburashka” will be presented alongside evening performances including “Chekhov’s Comedy Plays” and “Family Secret.”
Children and families are also expected to enjoy performances at the Turkmen State Puppet Theatre. Productions such as “Eternal Legends,” “The Wedding Feast,” “Once There Was a Little Rabbit,” and “Aladdin” are scheduled throughout the weekend as part of the cultural festivities.
Officials said the wide variety of cultural programs reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to preserving national traditions while encouraging artistic creativity and public participation in cultural life. The events are also expected to attract local residents and international visitors currently staying in Ashgabat.
The celebrations surrounding Constitution Day and State Flag Day continue to hold strong symbolic importance in Turkmenistan, with cultural performances serving as an important expression of national unity and public pride across the country.
