Air India and Air India Express are set to operate a total of 58 flights to and from West Asia on March 12, ensuring continued connectivity between India and key destinations in the region amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
According to an official statement, the two airlines will run scheduled and non-scheduled flights to several West Asian destinations including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. Special flights have also been planned to manage travel demand and support passengers affected by disruptions in the region.
As part of the schedule, Air India and Air India Express will operate special round-trip flights to Riyadh from Mumbai and Kozhikode. In addition, both carriers will operate 10 flights to and from Jeddah and eight flights connecting Muscat, maintaining regular passenger movement between India and these important Gulf hubs.
Air India will operate one round-trip from Delhi and two from Mumbai to Jeddah, while Air India Express will connect Bengaluru and Kozhikode with Jeddah. For Oman operations, Air India Express has scheduled round-trip services from Delhi, Mumbai, and Kozhikode to Muscat.
Apart from scheduled flights, the airline group is also planning around 40 additional non-scheduled services to destinations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, depending on slot availability and regulatory approvals. These additional flights are aimed at managing increased passenger demand during the current regional situation.
Despite the developments in West Asia, Air India confirmed that its long-haul flights to North America, Europe, Australia and other regions are operating normally. The airline group also announced that 78 additional flights will operate between March 10 and March 18 to destinations including Europe, the United States, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Passengers whose flights have been affected by temporary suspensions on certain routes have been given the option to reschedule their travel without extra charges or opt for a full refund. Airlines have advised travellers to check official notifications and keep their contact details updated to receive travel updates.
Air India Group said it is continuously monitoring the situation in West Asia and exploring opportunities to add more flights if required to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers.
