Air India and IndiGo Warn Passengers of Flight Delays Due to Fog

Air India and IndiGo Warn Passengers of Flight Delays Due to Fog

Post by : Maya Rahman

As dense fog impacts the holiday travel season, both Air India and IndiGo have proactively issued advisories to passengers regarding possible flight disturbances throughout various regions of India. Travelers are encouraged to stay informed, as flight operations may face significant delays or cancellations due to low visibility.

In its update, Air India announced that it is vigilantly watching weather forecasts and is implementing strategies to mitigate the effects of fog on its operations. The airline recognizes the importance of travel during the festive season and assures customers that staff are working relentlessly to limit disruptions. Current forecasts predict that dense fog will particularly affect airports in Delhi and adjacent regions, including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna, potentially causing widespread delays.

To address these issues, Air India has initiated various measures to manage any upcoming disruptions. If flights are delayed or canceled, ground personnel are available at all times to support affected passengers and provide alternative arrangements. Travelers who booked flights during the foggy period will receive notifications about flight changes as part of the airline's FogCare initiative. They have the option to change their flights free of charge or request a full refund without penalties. Also, the airline emphasizes that checking flight status on its official website before heading to the airport is crucial, as passenger safety remains its utmost priority.

In a similar warning, IndiGo highlighted the impact of dense fog on flights, specifically noting conditions at the Chandigarh and Amritsar airports. A message posted on their social media stated that fog is continuing to hamper operations in and out of these locations. Passengers are advised to visit the IndiGo website or mobile app to get the latest updates on their flights before embarking on their journeys.

IndiGo reassured its customers that its teams are in close coordination with airport authorities to restore regular operations as weather conditions improve. The airline mentioned that boarding will resume once visibility becomes adequate and expressed gratitude to passengers for their understanding and support during the fog-induced disruptions.
