According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the UAE is about to endure several days of unsettled weather, which includes rain, vigorous winds, and choppy sea conditions across multiple regions until the weekend. Expect partly cloudy to overcast skies, with convective clouds likely to bring showers to islands, as well as coastal, northern, and eastern parts.
Sectors such as logistics, construction, marine services, and outdoor activities should be ready for potential disruptions stemming from lower visibility and challenging sea conditions. Winds today are predicted to be moderate to fresh, stirring up dust and sand, while sea conditions will vary from moderate to rough in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
On Thursday, December 18, the weather is expected to worsen, with scattered showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and possibly hail in certain areas. Winds are projected to transition from southeasterly to northwesterly, reaching up to 60 km/h, leading to rough to very rough seas in the Arabian Gulf.
Continuing unstable weather will mark Friday, December 19, with lower temperatures, isolated rain, thunderstorms, and the chance of hail. Winds might hit speeds of 65 km/h, causing the Arabian Gulf to have rough to very rough conditions, which may impact marine transport and offshore operations.
By Saturday, December 20, conditions are likely to improve somewhat, although partly cloudy skies with convective clouds could still yield rain in the northern and eastern areas. Winds will remain moderate to fresh, and rough seas will persist in the Arabian Gulf.
Forecasts for Sunday, December 21, indicate further improvements with partly cloudy conditions, light rainfall over islands, coastal, and western locations, as well as increasing humidity overnight in some inner western regions. Sea conditions are projected to calm, enhancing the safety of marine activities.
