A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck the Tajikistan-Xinjiang border region early Friday morning, according to official seismic data. The quake occurred around 2 a.m. local time at a depth of approximately 159 kilometers, as recorded by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Meanwhile, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported the tremor at a magnitude of 5.3 with a depth of 140 kilometers, based on the Moment Magnitude scale.
The seismic activity was felt across a broad area, including parts of Pakistan such as Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as neighboring regions in China and Afghanistan.
