Mumbai Hostage Scare: 20 Children Rescued From Film Studio

Mumbai Hostage Scare: 20 Children Rescued From Film Studio

Post by : Rameen Ariff

In a chilling incident that sent shockwaves across Mumbai, 20 children were rescued after being held hostage by a man inside a film studio in the city’s Powai area. The police launched a swift and coordinated operation, arresting the suspect — identified as Rohit Arya — within hours of the terrifying ordeal.

According to officials, the children had gone to RA Studios for a film audition when the accused locked them inside and began broadcasting alarming messages on social media. The man, in a self-recorded video, said he chose hostage-taking “instead of dying by suicide” to force certain unnamed individuals to engage in “moral and ethical conversations.”

“I am Rohit Arya. Instead of dying by suicide, I have made a plan and am holding some children hostage here,” he said in the viral video. “I don’t want money, I am not a terrorist. I only have simple demands and questions. The slightest wrong move from you will trigger me.”

Police Act Swiftly To Save Children

Mumbai Police said they were alerted to the incident shortly after the video began circulating online. Teams from the Powai police station, including a special rescue unit, reached the spot immediately and managed to safely evacuate all 20 children within a short span.

“The situation was extremely sensitive,” said a senior police official. “Our priority was the safety of the children. We surrounded the area and negotiated with the accused while preparing for a tactical entry. Fortunately, all the children were rescued unharmed.”

Authorities also recovered what appeared to be an air gun and some chemical substances from the scene, though officials confirmed that no explosives or real firearms were found.

‘Don’t Trigger Me’: Disturbing Words From The Accused

In his disturbing video, Arya repeatedly warned authorities not to “trigger” him, threatening to set the place on fire if anyone tried to intervene. He also claimed his act was “a part of a plan” to spark public attention and conversation rather than to cause harm.

“I want simple conversations, and that’s why I’ve taken these children hostage,” he said in the footage. “If I live, I’ll do it. If I die, someone else will — but this will definitely happen.”

Police Probe Motive Behind The Act

Investigators are now trying to determine Arya’s background and motive. Early reports suggest he may have been dealing with mental health issues and personal grievances that pushed him toward this extreme act.

“Preliminary findings indicate emotional distress, but we are verifying all aspects,” an officer said, adding that a psychological evaluation would be conducted.

Parents of the rescued children expressed immense relief and gratitude to the police for their timely intervention.

Public Shock And Growing Questions

The Mumbai hostage incident has sparked intense discussions on social media about mental health, public safety at private studios, and the vulnerability of child actors in the entertainment industry.

Authorities have assured that all security protocols in Mumbai’s film studios will be reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.
